7 Ways to Celebrate Father's Day in the Yukon

Father’s day is coming up on June 18, 2023, so it’s time to get your plans settled! Need a little inspiration? We can help! Here are 7 ways to celebrate Father’s Day in the Yukon.

1. Attend a Car Show

If you can’t imagine a better way to spend the day than checking out tons of classic, unique, and performance vehicles, the Father's Day Show N Shine is the perfect event for you! The car show runs from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Yukon Transportation Museum, and it’s free to attend. However, if you want to showcase your own vehicle, there’s a $20 fee for nonmembers, and you’ll need to register at 10:00 a.m.

2. Play Pickleball

Have you jumped on the pickleball bandwagon yet? There’s a reason pickleball has become so popular–it’s loads of fun! So why not celebrate Father’s Day with a Family Pickleball game at Powerade Flexihall? It’s only $3.95 each to rent your pickleball paddle and ball for the event, or free with a 6- or 12-month membership. Family Pickleball is available from 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Father’s Day.

3. Take a Flightseeing Tour

Want a truly memorable Father’s Day experience? Book a flightseeing tour of Kluane National Park. You’ll be able to see areas of the park that are otherwise difficult to access, like the Icefield Ranges. And you’ll be treated to an incomparable view of the park’s lakes, mountains, and other natural features. Talk about a Father’s Day to remember!

4. Go Golfing

With several golf courses right here in Whitehorse, going golfing could be the perfect way to celebrate Father’s Day. Spend the day enjoying the course, the company, and the friendly competition!

5. Savor a Meal

One of the simplest yet most enjoyable ways to celebrate Father’s Day is to savor a meal together. Visit one of the Yukon’s many incredible restaurants, or pack up a picnic to enjoy at your favorite park. Prefer to stay in? Grab takeout and play a game or watch a movie instead!

6. Ride for Dad

If you’re interested in celebrating Father’s Day a little early, take part in the Yukon Ride for Dad on June 10, 2023. You can participate by riding your motorcycle in the event, or fundraising for it instead. You can also support the event by purchasing merchandise for your dad or just donating to the cause. The Ride for Dad raises money each year for prostate cancer research so more cases can be detected and treated early.

7. Meet a New Friend

Looking for a quirky way to celebrate Father’s Day? Or are you unable to celebrate with family this year? Then, purchase tickets for Perfect Strangers, and celebrate Father’s Day by making a new friend. The walking tour, held in Downtown Whitehorse from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., pairs you with a stranger and guides you through questions as you go along. By the end of the tour, you just might have a new friend!

However you choose to spend your day, we at Normandy Living wish you a very happy Father’s Day!
