What is Normandy Living?
Normandy Living is an Independent Senior Living Community in Whitehorse, Yukon. Normandy is the first private seniors’ community in Yukon and will provide services allowing people to remain independent for longer.

Does Normandy Living have nursing staff on site?
No, Normandy is an independent living community that offers hospitality and monitoring services that support residents in living independently.
However, any resident will be eligible as normal for Home Care Services provided through Yukon Government. Eligibility remains the same, any Yukoner who has an assessed need for home care, and has (or has applied for) a Yukon Health Care Insurance Plan.

is independent senior living regulated in the yukon?
Retirement homes in Yukon are not regulated under a specific act. Independent Senior Living at Normandy has assured quality service to Yukoners through being CARF accredited. CARF International was established in 1966 and is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services. Through accreditation, CARF assists service providers to improve the quality of their services and impact outcomes for persons served. What is included with the monthly fee?
Each resident will enjoy the same level of safety and care. There is 24-hour staffing that includes professional on-site management, monitoring of presence and well-being, housekeeping, and laundry services, concierge services, a talented culinary team, security, and maintenance.
Along with our hospitality services, the monthly fee will be inclusive of your beautifully designed private suite, all utilities (including phone, internet, and cable TV), maintenance, and an array of social and recreational activities geared to residents’ interests and needs. Personal care services, which may include assistance with tasks like bathing, grooming, dressing and mobility or similar tasks, will only be available through government-offered services, all booked by the residents or a designate and will not be offered by the staff of Normandy.

who pays for my suite?
The resident (or family) pays for the accommodation and services provided within Normandy.

can i have visitors to my suite?
Your suite is your home. We encourage visitors and also offer spaces for family gatherings. Safety of our residents is always our top consideration, so the entrance is monitored and secure, all visitors will need to sign in and out each visit.
Depending on availability, there will be family suites that can be rented on a nightly basis for travelling visitors.

will i be able to cook my own meals?
Each suite at Normandy will have a kitchenette that will allow you flexibility with hosting visitors, or preparing snacks.
Three meals per day as well as snacks 24 hours a day will be provided to residents in the main dining room.

can i keep my pet if i move to normandy?
Yes, we will allow small pets at Normandy. Each situation is evaluated separately during the application process.

can i bring my car?
Yes, there is an additional fee for a designated underground parking spot.

Can I bring my own furniture?
Your suite is your home. We encourage residents to furnish and decorate their suites with their own items, but can provide options if you require a furnished suite.
