Celebrating Valentine’s Day With Romance for Seniors

Valentine’s Day is only weeks away! Do you have someone special to celebrate with? Or are you hoping to find a match before February 14 comes around? The good news is many seniors date and find love in independent living. Here are some ideas for celebrating Valentine’s Day with romance for seniors.

Send a Valentine

One of the simplest and sweetest ways seniors can celebrate Valentine’s Day is by sending a valentine. Whether you’re letting a special someone know for the first time that you’re interested in a date or you’re celebrating with your spouse of 40 years, sending a valentine is a sure way to put a smile on their face.

So purchase a valentine that fits your personality or make one yourself. Be sure to add a personal note. Then, send it to your valentine. With any luck, you’ll get a valentine of your own in return!

Volunteer Together

When you think of romantic dates, volunteering probably doesn’t come to mind. But volunteering together actually makes a wonderful date, especially if you’re just getting to know someone. It allows you to show your soft side and bond together. Plus, helping others makes you feel good, so it’s a great way to increase your chances that you’ll both feel positive about the date.

So choose a cause you feel passionate about, and invite your valentine to come along. Whether you’re helping at a soup kitchen, volunteering at an animal shelter, or reading to children at a library, you’re bound to have fun together.

Book a Hot Date

Want to do something unique and special for Valentine’s Day? How about booking a Hot Date to learn glass blowing together? You’ll work together to create beautiful pieces of art. And at the end of the date, you’ll each have a memento to keep. Plus, because the glass pieces need to cool overnight before you can pick them up, you have an excuse to see your valentine again the next day!

Not interested in glass blowing? That’s OK! Choose an activity or craft that you enjoy, and ask your partner to join you. Making gifts to exchange or just spending time together is a wonderful way for seniors to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Dinner and a Movie

Dinner and a movie is a classic Valentine’s Day date that never goes out of style. So why not ask your valentine to join you for a romantic meal and movie? Go out to a special restaurant, followed by a trip to the theatre. It’s always a good time.

Alternatively, celebrate Valentine’s Day at home. Order takeout, or have dinner in the dining room. Then, invite your valentine to watch a movie together in your suite. It’s a perfect recipe for a cozy night together. Don’t forget the popcorn!

There are many more ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day with romance for seniors than we could possibly fit into one post. And sometimes, the best way to celebrate Valentine’s Day is with activities that are personal to you. So be creative! The important thing is to spend time with your date and have fun!
