What’s on the Menu This Christmas?

Christmas is just around the corner, and we’re looking forward to all the tasty treats. Have you thought about your menu yet? If you’re unsure what you’re having, need some ideas for simple foods you can make if cooking is difficult, or just want to suggest something new and different for your family’s meal, we have you covered. Here’s our list of foods to consider adding to your menu this Christmas.

Christmas Cookies

Is it even Christmas without Christmas cookies? Christmas cookies are so much fun to bake, decorate, and exchange. Whether you are helping your grandchildren make cookies to leave for Santa, want to exchange cookies with your friends and family, or just want loads of cheerful cookies on display to bring the Christmas spirit, Christmas cookies are a must-have for any celebration. And if you’re diabetic, you don’t have to miss out on the fun. Just do a quick search for diabetic-friendly Christmas cookies to find recipes for tasty treats.

Mulled Wine

Nothing warms you up on Christmas quite like mulled wine. The distinctive smell of cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg is synonymous with Christmas. Adding fruit makes mulled wine even more festive. Can’t have wine because of medications, or need a nonalcoholic option for your grandchildren? Try mulled cider instead.

Nanaimo Bars

Hailing from the city of Nanaimo, these decadent bars have become a Christmas staple for many. And despite their lovely appearance, Nanaimo Bars are actually simple to make and don’t require any baking! Plus, if using a stove is a problem,  you can melt the butter and chocolate in the microwave!

Roast Smashed Potatoes

Roast smashed potatoes are simple to make but have tons of flavor. You’ll just need about 1 ½ kg of potatoes, 100 ml of sunflower oil, and the seasonings of your choice. Cut large potatoes in half, but you can leave small potatoes whole. Put them in a pot of cold, salted water and bring them to a boil for 15 minutes. Then, transfer them to a roasting tin, smash them a bit to flatten them, sprinkle on your seasoning, and drizzle them with oil. Then place them in the oven at 200C for one hour, and you’re done!

Slow Cooker Turkey

Turkey is a traditional Christmas food for many, but it’s also known for taking the most time and effort to cook. If you want to include turkey on your menu this year but can’t do all the work involved with cooking a turkey in the oven, try using a slow cooker instead. You’ll have a juicy turkey without all the effort and risk of burns involved with making it in the oven.

Candy Cane Caprese

If you’re looking for something new and different to try, consider this Candy Cane Caprese Board. It’s so easy to make yet impressive to look at! You’ll just need to arrange slices of fresh mozzarella and tomatoes to make a candy cane shape, drizzle them with oil and salt, and serve with toasted baguette slices

Are you hungry yet? We are! We hope we’ve provided you with some simple yet tasty ideas for Christmas this year. And whatever you choose for your Christmas menu, we hope you have a very happy Christmas!
